Anna has more than 20 years experience working with children, young people and their families.
Anna’s work is characterised by creating trusting, warm and safe relationships where children, adolescents and adults feel accepted, listened to and can gain a sense of mastery over issues and make healthy changes in their lives.
Anna uses a range of counselling approaches including Child Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, Expressive Therapies, Mindfulness Approaches, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Strengths Based Approach, Humanist Approach and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Anna also draws upon neurological research to support the development of calm, happy brains at all stages of life.
She has trained in the ‘Triple P’ Positive Parenting Program, ‘Protective behaviours Program’ and ‘Bringing up Great Kids Parenting Program’. Anna is an Accredited Drumbeat Facilitator and Trainer & Assessor and has used these skills to facilitate a range of therapeutic programs and to train professionals within the community sector.
She is experienced in working with partnership with significant others in children’s lives including family, schools, health providers and legal representatives. Anna can prepare written reports providing assessment, information, strategies and recommendations.
Anna also works with adults and provides a warm, supportive, compassionate and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. Clients recognise their own strengths and abilities to develop skills, overcome challenges and make desired changes.
Anna has previously worked at the Mt Lawley Counselling Centre, Joondalup Family Relationship Centre, Patricia Giles Centre and Edith Cowan University. She also has worked at the Armadale Community Family Centre and at Primary Schools.
