Emily Hirshman-Smith has been practicing as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist since 2001, and in private practice since 2013. She has worked in London, Sydney and Perth in a variety of settings, including a Women’s Refuge, a Centre for Homeless Adolescents, and a Sexual Health Clinic.
She works with couples and individuals, and is interested in the relationship we have with ourselves and others, and how we navigate our way through life and the challenges that it brings.

Emily understands that coming to therapy can be a big step, for men and women alike. She is respectful and sensitive to many of the intimate issues that clients will bring. She focuses on building trust with her clients and is committed to creating a safe counselling environment, and a confidential and ethical practice.
Emily is trained in a variety of approaches including Psychodynamic and Gestalt Therapy, meaning she will work with what the client brings in the present, and from the past, believing both are helpful in working with clients to facilitate change.
Emily works from Cottesloe and Applecross. She offers after hours appointments and is able to offer rebates through some Private Health Plan providers. For students and low income earners. Emily is open to negotiating her fee.
